Health Minister Admits Interviews For Long-Running Newmarket GP Vacancy Won’t Be Until Early 2020

The Health Minister has admitted it will be early next year before interviews are held for the GP vacancy in Newmarket-on-Fergus.

But Simon Harris insists that filling the position is a priority for the HSE and that locum cover is being provided while there is no doctor in place.

The village has been without a family doctor in recent months following the retirement of Dr Colm Hackett and while a replacement was due to start in September, that appointment fell through.
