It’s claimed the government and the HSE can’t get to grips with the crisis in the Midwest health service.

A meeting is being held in Ennis tonight, organised by the Midwest Hospital Campaign, as concern grows in Clare over the direction management is taking the local hospital network.

The latest figures from the INMO have revealed a 38% annual increase in trolley numbers at UHL, while last month saw just shy of 1,500 patients on trolleys there across the month, including a record 82 on one day.

Ennis Labour representative Séamus Ryan is part of the campaign group and says we’re heading into even murkier waters.

That meeting takes place in the Old Ground Hotel tonight from 8 o’clock.
