Concern Clare People “Treated As Second Class Citizens” In Mental Health Services

It’s claimed the people of Clare and Tipperary are being treated as second class citizens when it comes to the provision of mental health services.

The overall health budget for the Midwest region this year amounted to €396 million; of that, just shy of €65 million was allocated for mental health resources.

But despite that sum, it’s claimed Limerick is given the monopoly of the available services with patients in the other two counties being forced to travel long distances for treatment.
