Clare TD Criticises HSE’s Winter Plan As Being A “Short-Term Solution”

Clare’s Independent TD has criticised the HSE’s Winter Plan for being a short-term solution that won’t make any difference to the core issues within the health service.

The plan, which the HSE has set out today, aims to tackle overcrowding in Irish hospitals in peak winter season.

It won’t see any investment in extra acute beds for hospitals but provides for extra medical, nursing, therapies support, pharmacy and laboratory staff, to improve patient experience time.

The plan has been unveiled two weeks earlier this year, following record levels of overcrowding in recent months.

But Dr Michael Harty has been telling Clare FM’s James Mulhall that this plan will not have any long term effect on the health crisis.
