There’s been a spike in the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital today.

The latest INMO figures show 75 patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 45 of those in the emergency Department alone.

The overall figure is 23 more than the next busiest facility, Cork University Hospital and comes on a day when 492 people have been left waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
