Trolley numbers remain high at the region’s main hospital as the week begins.
The latest INMO figures show 64 patients were left waiting for trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 37 of those in the emergency department alone.
The overall figure is 20 more than the next busiest facility; University Hospital Galway.
Last week the UL Hospitals Group appealed to patients not to attend the ED unless it’s an emergency as high numbers continued to present there.
People are urged to visit their GP in the first instance and to utilise the Injury Unit at Ennis General Hospital where possible.
