Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has eased today.

But University Hospital Limerick remains the busiest in the country with 63 patients on trolleys there this morning, according to the latest INMO figures, 29 of those in the emergency department alone.

The overall figure is 16 more than the next busiest facility; University Hospital Galway and comes on a day when 518 people have been left waiting for beds at hospitals across the country.
