The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has eased slightly – but University Hospital Limerick remains the worst-affected facility nationwide.

A total of 56 patients were without a bed there this morning, 26 of those on trolleys in the emergency department alone.

It’s a drop of five on yesterday’s spike but is still six more than any other hospital in the country today.
