Health Minister Issued Ultimatum By Clare Councillors

The Health Minister has been issued an ultimatum by Clare County Councillors to address the overcrowding crisis in the Midwest or face a call for his dismissal.

At the local authority’s first meeting of the year, Former TD and Ennis Independent Councillor James Breen put forward a motion calling for a vote of no confidence in Simon Harris, in light of increasing pressure on the region’s health system.

But a war of words erupted in council chambers last evening, with some supporting that call, while others favoured giving Minister Harris a four-week window to meet with the local health forum before backing the motion.
