The Clare President of the Irish Road Haulage Association says the industry will play a vital role in plans to reduce Ireland’s carbon emissions.

The Programme for Government has made reference to the private haulage industry for the first time in its commitment to a ten year plan to develop the industry and reduce emissions.

Eugene Drennan says the industry has already taken huge steps in reducing emissions and will continue to do so into the future.

The Ennis haulier says half of their fleet is of the Euro 6 standard, which is an 80% lower emissions rating than conventional trucks.
