The Rebuilding Ireland home loan scheme is a government-backed plan to assist first-time buyers to get on the property ladder.

It’s been available since February 2018, and sees applicants seek money from local authorities.

Since the scheme was introduced, 96 applications for funding have been made to Clare County Council, and only forty of these have been approved.

Figures from the Department of Housing, which have been released to TDs, show the approval rate here – almost 42% – is lower than the rate nationally, which is just over 50.
