Government To Roll Out Access To New Drug To All Cervical Cancer Patients

It’s hoped access to a potenitally life-saving drug to treat cervical cancer will be made available to all sufferers of the disease this side of Christmas.

A dose of pembrolizumab, known as pembro, costs €8,500 every three weeks, with many women in need of the drug being forced to pay privately for it.

The government has made it available to those affected by the CervicalCheck scandal but now, the Health Minister has announced plans to extend it to all cervical cancer patients.
