Government Minister Says ‘Too Soon’ For Long Term Shannon Support

A government minister says it’s too soon to put longer term financial supports in place for Shannon Airport.

The county’s airport has seen a number of short term funding injections since traffic was virtually halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including €8.4 million being set aside for operational and capital costs earlier this week.

However, the Shannon Group continues to lose around €1.3 million weekly – with several Clare Oireachtas members indicating they believe further supports will be needed down the line.
