The government is funding maritime projects in Clare and Galway to the tune of €411,000.

It’s part of the West Fisheries Local Action Group strategy, which supports initiatives along the Atlantic coastline in the west of Ireland.

A total of 33 projects will benefit from the fund, including a new tour facility on Scattery Island, just off the Kilrush coast, which will receuve a grant of €8,000 – while the refurbishment of a century-old cottage on Inis Oírr will receive €55,000.

The Minister of State for Rural Development Seán Kyne will officially announce the fund on Inis Oírr later today.
