Gardaí Warn Against Revenge Attack Following Shannon Murder

Gardaí are urging people not to take the law into their own hands following a fatal stabbing in Shannon.

A murder investigation is underway following the death of 23-year-old Jamie Higgins of Mungret in Limerick, who died from stab wounds sustained during an altercation at the Shannon Knights Night Club.

A 22-year-old man, who was also injured during the incident in the early hours of Sunday morning, is being treated in hospital for injuries which are not described as life-threatening.

A 19-year-old arrested in connection with the incident has been released without charge and a file is being sent to the DPP.

Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Joe Downey is urging anyone who’s thinking of exacting revenge to think twice.
