The caller claims to be from Revenue, however, Gardai say they nor revenue make unsolicited phone calls.
Gardai say people are receiving calls from individuals claiming to be from Revenue and informing them that they have an overdue tax bill due to be paid immediately.
The scam involves the caller instructing you to phone another number and give your credit card details.
Gardai say that this caller is not calling from Revenue.
Officers are also reminding people to be wary of any contact from an unsolicited source, whether it is by telephone or email
Gardai say they, Revenue, nor any financial institution will ever make unsolicited calls and will never ask for credit card details or PPS number by phone or email.
Anyone who receives a call from someone requesting personal or financial information is being urged to inform their local Garda Station, or to call the Garda Confidential line on 1800-666-111.
