Gardaí say they’re following a definite line of inquiry after three people were assaulted in a series of incidents in Ennis.

A woman in her fifties was assaulted by a man in an incident at a fast food restaurant on O’Connell Street in Ennis, at around 6.30 last evening.

Shortly afterwards two men, a man in his fifties and a man in his seventies, who were getting out of their cars in the Friar’s Walk car park were set upon by the same man.

Gardaí say they have identified a suspect, but no arrests have yet been made.

Superintendent Brendan McDonagh has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that the incidents happened in close succession and he’s urging any witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with information on either of those incidents are being asked to contact Gardaí in Ennis on 065 68 48 100.
