Clare County Council has carried out a joint exercise with Gardaí in a bid to catch people illegally dumping their rubbish on the outskirts of Ennis.
On this day last week (Friday), checkpoints were setup in the Clarecastle and Roslevan areas, close to known illegal dumping sites.
The Council says the operation was a bid to detect those responsible for dumping and to check for waste collection permits where relevant.

Further follow-up investigations are now planned for the sites in question.
A similar operation was conducted in the East Clare area last November.
