Gardaí are warning residents not to engage with people who are “cold calling” at your door, following an incident involving a bogus trademen in the Shannon area.
An investigation is underway, after a resident was given a quote of €2,500 for replacement guttering, but the price was subsequently raised to €18,000, after the tradesmen said extra work was required on the roof.
Gardaí say bogus tradesmen are targeting homes with a view to carrying out criminal activity and they’re advising people to report any incident like this to your local Garda Station.
