The Mayor of Ennis is demanding answers from the Garda Commissioner as to why he hasn’t sanctioned a proposal to allow local officers and volunteers receive training to cut down on domestic violence.

Councillors here have previously supported a call from Clare Colleran Molloy for the Garda to fund training in the US for local officers, Department of Justice Officials and Haven Horizons members.

It will take place in the city of St. Paul where a blueprint has been developed that has been highly successful in tackling domestic violence, and Clare Gardaí have already fostered close ties with their counterparts there.
