Two men caught in a van with a loaded gun in Dublin last night have been arrested on ‘suspicion of conspiracy to murder’.

A Garda emergency response unit swooped after a tip-off from the organised crime unit and the drugs squad.

At around 8 o’clock last night officers intercepted a van on Dublin’s Kylemore Road – inside were two men and a firearm.

Detectives believe the pair may have been on their way to carry out a gangland hit.

Gardaí this morning won’t confirm if the arrests are linked to the Kinahan Hutch feud, but the road where the van was stopped is close to the heartland of the bitter family feud that’s claimed almost a dozen lives since it began.

The men being questioned are both in their 30’s – they’re being held in Crumlin Garda Station where they can be held for up to a week.
