Nearly €140,000 in funding has been announced for upgrade works at two North Clare piers.
The money has been announced by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed as part of a scheme which allows for the development and repair of harbours and piers nationally.
Here, the Department is to contribute €112,000 for the reconstruction of the slipway at Lahinch, while another €26,000 of its funding will also be spent on the upgrade of the deck at Gelninagh Pier.

The Department provides 75% of the cost of the projects, with the remainder coming from Clare County Council.
