Funding allocated for new fire and rescue training centre

Clare’s fire fighting ability is about to step up a gear.

Funding has been allocated for the development of a new training centre for fire and rescue staff in Ennis and work is expected to get underway in the coming months.

The County’s fire services which received planning permission for the new centre earlier this year.is among four nationwide to benefit from the 2 million euro funding allocation from Government.

The local fire service will also receive a new Class B fire Appliance adding to existing fleet of 30
vehicles.

The project to develop the training centre is expected to go out to tender shortly and once a contractor is selected work is due to be completed by this time next year.

Welcoming the funding Junior Minister and Clare TD Tony Killeen says it will greatly enhance the fire fighting capability of the local service and will provide modern training facilities and will be available for use by other local authority fire services
