Frustration Over Slow Pace Of Flood Protection Plan Implementation

Frustration is being expressed at the slow pace of work in putting flood protection in place in West and North Clare.

It’s two years this week since a deluge of rain caused significant damage to roads in the Miltown Malbay area, with up to eight inches of water recorded in some areas, while later that year more heavy rain led to flooding in Ballyvaughan and in the townland of Murtyclough.

This week, Councillors have been told that hydrological assessments have been carried out and consultants appointed for the design phase of works at Miltown Malbay and for Murtyclough – while the Ballyvaughan project is expected to go to tender shortly.
