Frustration Over Kilrush Performance In Tidy Town’s Competition

There’s frustration in Kilrush over the results of this year’s national Tidy Town’s competition.

870 towns and villages across the country learned their fate at a ceremony in Dublin yesterday, with Ennis being named Ireland’s Tidiest Large Urban Centre.

There were wins for a number of other areas in Clare including a silver for Mountshannon, bronze for Quin, Ballynacally, Tuamgraney and Ballyvaughan and an Endeavour award for Lisdoonvarna.

But while Kilrush received gold in the competition, the west Clare town received its lowest score in many years and Chairman of the Tidy Towns Committee, Paul Edson fears another slip could lose the town it’s gold medal status.
