Fresh Calls For Tourism Sector’s Lower VAT Rate To Be Maintained

The Finance Minister is being warned that any increase to the tourism VAT rate could have a ‘devastating’ impact on the trade in Clare.

It’s after Paschal Donohue revealed that the 9% VAT rate is under consideration in the next budget.

The lower rate was brought in during the recession to give tourism a much-needed boost at a time when the sector was struggling, and the former Chairman of Loop Head Tourism claims it saved many businesses in the county.
