Latest figures show 409 people are on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation – Cork University Hospital is the most overcrowded with 31 people in need of a bed.
University Hospital Galway and University Hospital Limerick are next with 29 people on trolleys and overflow areas of wards in each facility.
