Former Tourism Board Member Who Resigned After After Trip Abroad Reinstated To DCCI

A former Clare board member of Failté Ireland, who resigned after a trip to Spain, has been reinstated to another public role by the Tánaiste.

Former Chief Executive Of Penny’s and Tubber native, Breege O’Donoghue stepped down last month after it emerged that she had travelled to Marbella in July and August.

At the same time, staff at the Design and Crafts Council Ireland were told that Ms O’Donoghue had resigned from her role of that organisation, but the Irish Examiner reports that she has now been reinstated to the role, after writing to Tánaiste Leo Varadkar.

A spokesperson from the Department of Business who oversees the DCCI, has said that the Tubber native “has clarified in writing that her trip abroad was for medical reasons and that she restricted her movements upon her return to Ireland”.
