Former Clare Mayor Calls For National Regulations For Banks

A former Mayor of Clare is calling for national regulations to ensure that banks provide an adequate ATM service in Clare towns.

Fianna Fáil's Pat Hayes is the latest public representative to speak out about the issue of broken down cash machines, especially on Bank Holiday weekends.

The issue was recently raised with Bank of Ireland, when they appeared before the Oireachtas Finance Committee.

It heard that communities such as Scarriff, Tulla, Miltown Malbay and Kilkee rely solely on the services of B.O.I, and Councillor Hayes says ATM faults can be bad for business in these areas.
