Water pumps have been secured for Sixmilebridge to be deployed in in the event of more flooding there.
The OPW has procured the pumps which will be stored locally and rolled out, should they be needed in an emergency situation such as that in 2009.
Plans are also in place to carry out drainage works on the Owengarney River, including silt and vegetation management as well as selective tree cutting.
