Fianna Fail to Cap Rates

The Fianna Fail party is reaching out to the struggling business community in bid to win local election votes by announcing a cap on commercial rates.

Local authorities like Clare County Council and the Town Councils in Ennis and Shannon have been coming in for criticism from local chambers of commerce and other business groups for raising council charges, particularly as the economic crisis drives many people of out business.

And now as part of Fianna Fail’s local election manifesto being launched today, party leader Brian Cowan says there’ll be a freeze on commercial rates on local authorities where his party are in control following June 5th.
