Fear That Sixmilebridge Will Be Hit By Floods If River Is Not Dredged

Fear is being expressed that Sixmilebridge could be hit by severe flooding unless the O’Garney River is urgently dredged.

It’s been around 15 years since the last major dredging, widening and cleaning of the river was carried out and it’s now said to be in dire need of it.

The local authority is to liaise with the OPW on the matter to see if it can be prioritised.
