Fear Of Further Diversions To Shannon Airport

Shannon Airport says further diversion could be on the cards following the temporary closure of Gatwick Airport in the UK overnight.

All flights were suspended at the West Sussex airport, south of London, at around 9 o’clock last night on account of illegal drone activity in the vacinity of the airfield.

Two British Airways flights and one Norwegian Air flight have made unscheduled landings at Shannon Airport so far, on account of the closure and a spokesperson for the airport says further diversions may be expected.

In a statement, Gatwick Airport says it’s continuing to investigate the matter alongside Sussex Police – Chief Operating Officer Chris Woodroofe says 10 thousand people have been affected.
