Fair Deal Scheme Members May Be Paying Too Much

Extra charges in nursing homes are under the spotlight – with one older persons group saying they might be levied on people who don’t use the services associated with them.

Many nursing homes charge extra fees in the region of 70 euro a week for social programmes, newspapers and hairdressing.

But people in the Fair Deal Scheme might be over-charged for them under the programme’s rules.
