Fáilte Ireland Commissioned Wind Farm Report On Day After Varadkar Email

It’s reported that Fáilte Ireland ordered a report into a proposed West Clare wind farm the day after Leo Varadkar had relayed Donald Trump’s concerns about the development to them.

The now President called Mr. Varadkar when he was Tourism Minister to express concern about the wind farm, which would have been visible from his Doonbeg golf resort.

Leo Varadkar emailed Fáilte Ireland officials, who commissioned a report the following day, one of a number of similar assessments commissioned by them in relation to the project.

As part of the planning process, Fáilte Ireland stated that the impact of the development on Doonbeg village was considered “moderate”, even though the report found the effect would be “slight to moderate.”

The planning application was rejected by Clare County Council, and later by An Bord Pleanala.
