Enterprise Ireland CEO Optimistic About Shannon Hub For Driverless Cars

The Head of Enterprise Ireland has endorsed ongoing efforts to develop Shannon as a testbed for connected and autonomous vehicles.

Earlier this year, nearly €5m in government funding was announced for the development of a 13 kilometre private road testing facility in Shannon, that will help the area become a leading testing area for the future of driverless cars.

Already, Jaguar Land Rover are developing cutting edge technology at their base here, but there are hopes that more companies in this sector will avail of the facility.

Speaking in a webinar hosted by Shannon Chamber, Enterprise Ireland CEO Julie Sinnamon expressed hopes that the project will see more companies set up in the Shannon area.
