Ennis WW1 Memorial Shattered By Vandals

A memorial dedicated to over 700 Claremen and women who died in World War One has been vandalised.

One of three glass panels on the memorial, which is located in the Clare Peace Park opposite Glor in Ennis, has been shattered with an object, possibly a hammer.

The incident comes just weeks before major commemorations which will mark 100 years since the end of the conflict and is being investigated by GardaĆ­.

Keir McNamara of the Clare Peace Park Committee says that will be particularly disappointing for those who will look to remember their loved ones in the weeks to come.
