Ennis has once again been named Ireland’s Tidiest Large Urban Centre.
It’s the second straight time the county town has received gold in the competition, which is ongoing at a ceremony in Dublin this afternoon.
870 towns and villages throughout the country entered this year’s SuperValu National TidyTowns competition, and in the past few minutes, Birdhill in County Tipperary has been Ireland’s Tidiest Town for 2017.
Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard, who is a member of the Tidy Towns committee says they are thrilled with the win.
Also at today’s ceremony in Dublin, it’s been announced that Kilrush has taken another Gold Medal, while Mountshannon has won silver.
Quin, Ballnacally, Tuamgraney and Ballyvaughan have all won bronze medals and the Endeavour Award has gone to Lisdoonvarna.
County Endeavour wards also went to Kilrush and Mountshannon.
