Ennis boosted by hosting of An Comhdhail

Ennis’s economic fortunes are set to be boosted as An Comhdhail-The All Ireland and International Irish Dancing Championships get underway in the town today.

Up to 3000 solo dancers are taking part in the event at the West County Hotoel over the next seven days with a further 8 to 10 thosuand family , friends and spectators expected to attend.

The local tourism and retail sector benefited to the tune of 5.2 million euro when the competition was last staged in Ennis in 2009- and Mayor of Ennis Tommy Brennan is hoping for a similar boost now
