Moneypoint Emissions Reduced By 1.5 Million Tonnes In 2018 – EPA

A 1.5 million tonne reduction in the amount of CO2 emissions was recorded at Moneypoint Power Station last year, as a result of forced outages.

Already-publicised upgrade works were carried out at the plant last year, forcing parts of it to effectively shut down, and a new report has found it to be a major contribution in a 12% reduction in emissions by the energy sector.

In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency says if it wasn’t for the reduction of coal use there, there would have been NO emissions decrease.
