Hope has been expressed in Clare that the Oireachtas Report on climate action and biodiversity won’t be left on a shelf to gather dust.

Ireland has become the second country in the world to declare a climate emergency after the UK did so earlier this month.

It came yesterday evening after an amendment proposed by Clare Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley passed without a vote in the Dail last night, after being accepted by government and opposition parties.

It’s now up to the government to implement the recommendations made in the committee’s report and Clare PPN’s Environmental Representative Theresa O’Donoghue says that will be vital.
