Lough Derg RNLI Assists 6 People At Ryan’s Point

6 people have been brought to safety, after their boat ran aground in Lough Derg.

The alarm was raised at 9 o’clock last night after the 35 foot cruiser became grounded at Ryan’s Point on the eastern shore.

The Lough Derg RNLI was dispatched to the scene and after inspecting the conditions, it was found that the four adults and two children on board were unharmed and wearing life jackets.

Two lifeboat crew members climbed on board and the cruiser was towed to safe waters.

The RNLI is urging boat users ‘to plan your passage and pay close attention to the navigational buoys that mark safe water on the lake’.
