Four Rescued From Sinking Boat On Lough Derg

Four people have been rescued from a sinking boat in Lough Derg.

The alarm was raised at around 4.30 yesterday afternoon, when the 16 foot motorboat began taking on water in rough weather.

The Lough Derg RNLI, the Killaloe Coastguard, and Irish Coastguard Helicopter, Rescue 115 were dispatched to the vessel, which was north of Scilly Island.

All four people on board were unharmed and wearing their lifejackets – they were subsequently moved to the coastguard boat and transported to Two Mile Gate, where they were assessed by National Ambulance Service Paramedics.
