A family has been rescued by the Lough Derg RNLI after getting into difficulty when a rope got stuck around their boat’s propellers.
The incident happened yesterday afternoon near Williamstown Harbour, at the Drummaan East shore of the lake near Whitegate.
The lifeboat arrived on scene and assessed the two adults and two children on board, who were unharmed.
The skipper had dropped anchor near Williamstown Harbour, Co.Clare when he discovered his propellers were fouled by astern lines.
The volunteer crew towed the vessel to the harbour and Lough Derg RNLI is now urging all boat users to check the weather forecast before taking to the lake.
