Farmers in Clare will receive a welcome boost today after the go ahead was given to begin grass cutting at Shannon Airport to make emergency fodder supplies available.

The country has been in the grips of the worst fodder crisis since 2013, with many farmers running out of supplies, leading the airport to offer up the site to help.

Contractors will commence the cutting of the 400-acre airfield at Shannon around 10 o’clock this morning.
