Post Office Campaigner Pleads With Clare Dáil Hopefuls To Keep Rural Ireland “Awake”

A West Clare post office campaigner is pleading with the county’s Dáil hopefuls to prioritise keeping rural Ireland “awake”, should they be successful in the election.

It comes as the Irish Postmasters Union has warned of a serious decline in the sector, unless the new government takes decisive action to save their businesses.

Last year, post offices saw their trade drop by 7% while 2018 saw the controversial closing of dozens of branches nationwide, including five in Clare.
