Clare Election Candidate Expressed Concern Over Drugs Problem In Ennis

A Clare election candidate is expressing concern that a so-called growing drug problem in Ennis is reaching, what’s he’s described as organised crime levels.

Michael Leahy, who’s running for the Irish Freedom Party claims people on the doorsteps, that he’s been meeting while canvassing, have been speaking of the fear of the issue.

The most recent figures from Clare’s Joint Policing Committee show that up until the end of September last, there was a 30% annual increase in the possession of drugs for sale of supply and a 9% jump in simple possession.
