Rise In Numbers Of Banner Residents With Third Level Qualifications

Almost 41% of people in Clare have a third level education.

The latest profile from the Census also shows that there are more female graduates than males in this county.

Almost 30,000 people in Clare over the age of 15 have a third level qualification, according to the latest profile from the Census.

Women accounted for almost 58% of all graduates, and among the 11,804 women in this county, 32% had a third level degree, which represents a significant rise on 2011 figures.

There were 3,160 people in Ennis with a bachelors degree or a professional qualification, the highest number in the county.

In Shannon there were 833, Kilrush had 203 , there were 283 in Sixmilebridge, and 182 in Newmarket on Fergus.

While, the number of people with a PhD has almost doubled to 569.

And, just over 8,800 people in the county, or 12% of the population, had no formal education or finished their education at primary level, a drop of almost 2% on five years ago.
