A North Clare Councillor, who is a former President of teachers’ union the INTO, insists it’s vital that the Education Minister sees the light and restores teacher pay.
Minister Joe McHugh is currently in the United Arab Emirates, where he will meet with hundreds of Irish teachers working there over the next few days.
With 2,000 Irish educators working in the UAE, the Minister says it’s a “fact-finding mission”, to determine what can be done in Ireland to lure them home to address the staffing crisis in our schools.
