Decision To Cut Capital Funding In Education A “Backwards Step” – McNamara

The government’s come under fire for cutting the amount of money that it plans to invest in new school infrastructure next year.

Budget 2020 included a 2% cut in capital funding for the Department of Education, with that money instead going towards the provision of over 1,000 new teachers.

The €19 million euro reduction marks the first time this funding has been cut in seven years, although the Department insists it won’t affect any projects planned for next year.
